In Northern Ireland, if you and your spouse have been living separately for at least two years and your spouse consents to divorce proceedings, you can proceed with a no fault divorce.

If you have been living apart for five years, you can proceed with divorce without the consent of your spouse.

If the above are not applicable, you must therefore satisfy one of the following 5 grounds to be eligible for a divorce:

Unreasonable behaviour
Adultery
Desertion
Failure to provide maintenance for your spouse
Failure to provide maintenance for your children
